Stationed at Cheat Mountain Summit, April 23-August 31, 1861.
Stationed at Terre Haute, Indiana, June 7, 1861.
June 7.- Muster-in roli of Captain Philander R. Owen's Com-
pany (1), in the Fourteenth Regiment (Second Brigade) of Indiana
Foot Volunteers, commanded by Colonel Nathan Kimball, called
into service of the United States by the President from June 7,
1861 (date of this muster) for the term of three years, unless
sooner discharged.

1861.
Stationed at Camp Keyes, Romney, [westj Virginia, November-
December 1861.
Stationed at Camp Chase, Paw Paw Tunnel, [west] Virginia,
January-February 1862.
Stationed at camp, Moore's Farm, north Harrisonburg, Virginia,
March-April 1862.
March 5-6.- We traveled by rail from Paw Paw Tunnel to Back
Creek, a distance of forty-five miles. From thence on foot to
Martinsburg; twelve miles.
March 11.- Marched to near Winchester, distance twenty miles.
March 18-20.- Pursued [Thomas Jonathan) Jackson seven miles
south of Strasburg and returned to Winchester; distance traveled
fifty-five miles.
March 22.- Marched from camp to near Keedysville and
bivouacked for the night.
March 23.- Engaged in the battle of Winchester, in which one
commissioned officer, two noncommissioned officers and three
privates were wounded.
March 2445.- Pursued Jackson south of Strasburg and returned
and encamped at Strasburg, having traveled a distance of twenty-
two miles.
April 1.- Marched from Strasburg to near Edenburg, eighteen
miles.
April 15.- Marched to Columbia Furnace, eight miles.
April 16.- Went on an expedition to capture a company of
Ashby's cavalry; distance marched sixteen miles.
April 17- Marched from Columbia Furnace to near New Mar-
ket, Virginia, a distance of twenty-two miles.
April 25.- Marched five miles south of New Market.
April 27.- Marched to Moore's Farm, a distance of six miles.
Total distance traveled in the two months 229 miles.
Stationed at Alexandria, Virginia, May-June 1862.
May' 12.- Started from New Market, Virginia and marched to
Fredericksburg via Front Royal and from Fredericksburg back to
Front Royal via Manassas Junction. From Front Royal to Luray,
from Luray to Columbia Bridge and back to Luray, from Luray
to Conrad's Store and back to Luray, from Luray to Front Royal
and from Front Royal to Bristoe Station. Whole distance
marched 410 miles. From Bristoe Station by cars to Alexandria,
forty miles.
Station not stated, July-August 1862.
Traveled by steamboat from Alexandria, Virginia to Harri-
son's Landing, Virginia; 255 miles. Marched from Harrison's
Landing to Malvern Hill and returned, distance fifteen miles.
August 17- Started on march for Newort News via Charles
City Court-House, Williamsburg and Yorktown, sixty miles.
From Newport News by steamboat to Alexandria, 195 miles.
Marched in the vicinity of Alexandria and Georgetown, Virginia,
twenty miles. Total miles 545.
Stationed in the field, September-October 1862.
September 15.- The company marched with the regiment from
Centreville, Virginia via Chain Bridge, Rockville, Frederick City,
Maryland to Antietam Creek, where it arrived September 15.
Distance marched ninety miles.
September 17- In the battle of Antietam the company lost one
man killed and sixteen wounded.
September 22.- Marched to Harper's Ferry, thirteen miles.
October 1-2.- Marched on reconnaissance towards Leesburg,
Virginia, twenty-five miles, and returned October 2. Distance
marched fifty miles.
October 30.- Marched from Harper's Ferry, five miles. Whole
distance marched 158 miles.
Stationed near Falmouth, Virginia, November-December 1862.
November 1.- At camp near Harper's Ferry and traveled by way
of Snicker's Gap, Upperville, Rectortown, and Salem, Virginia to
Warrenton, Virginia.
November 15-17- Left camp near Warrenton, Virginia.
Marched and arrived at camp near Falmouth, Virginia November
17. Distance traveled about 110 miles.
December 11.- Left camp near Falmouth, Virginia and marched
in the direction of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
December 12-13. - On the morning of December 12 entered
town. Was hotly engaged with the enemy the greater portion of
December 13.
December 14-15.- Lay in reserve and on the night of December
15 returned again to our old camp near Falmouth, Virginia. Dis-
tance marched ten miles.
Stationed at Falmouth, Virginia, January-February 1863.
Stationed at United States Ford, Virginia, March-April 1863.
Stationed near Falmouth, Virginia, April 10, 1863.
Stationed at Uniontown, Maryland, May-June 1863.
The company marched in company with the regiment from
Fredericksburg, Virginia via Centreville, Edwards Ferry,Vir-
ginia and Frederick, Maryland to Uniontown, Maryland.Dis
tance traveled not known.
Stationed at east New York, July-August 1863.
July 2-3.- Marched from Uniontown, Maryland to Gettysburg,
Pennsylvania and was engaged in the battle of that place.
July 5.- Left Gettysburg and marched to Williamspon, Mary-
land, from there to Harper's Ferry and from there to Elk Run,
Virginia. [Marched] from there to Alexandria by railroad and
from there by steamer to New York. Distance traveled not
known.
Stationed at Warrenton, Virginia, September-October 1863.
Stationed near Stevensburg, Virginia, November-December 1863.
Stationed at Cole's Hill, Virginia, January-February 1864.
Stationed near Stevensburg, Virginia, March-April 1864.

June 20.- Muster-out roll of Captain John Lindsey's, late Cap-
tain Philander R. Owen's, Company (I), in the Fourteenth Regi-
ment of Indiana Foot Volunteers, commanded by Lieutenant-
Colonel E. H. C. Cavins, late Colonel John Coons, late Colonel
William Harrow, late Colonel Nathan Kimball, called into the
service of the United States by the President at Terre Haute, Indi
ana (the place of general rendezvous) on June 7, 1861 to serve for
the term of three years from the date of enrollment, unless sooner
discharged, from June 7, 1861 (when musttred in) to -, 1864.
The company was organized by Captain Philander R. Owen at
Clinton, Indiana in the month of April 1861 and marched thence
to Terre Haute, Indiana, where it arrived May 8, a distance of
fifteen miles.
