Stationed at Terre Haute, Indiana, June 7, 1861.
June 7- Muster-in roll of Captain Jonathan [Benjamin] Hager's
Company (F), in the Fourteenth Regiment (Second Brigade) of
Indiana Foot Volunteers, commanded by Colonel Nathan Kimball,
called into service of the United States by the President from June
7, 1861 (date of this muster) for the term of three years, unless
sooner discharged.

Stationed at Cheat Mountain Summit, [west] Virginia, June 7-
August 31, 1861.
Stationed at Huttonsville, [west] Virginia, September-October
1861.
Stationed at Philippi, December 31, 1861.
Stationed at Camp Chase, Paw Paw, [west] Virginia, January-
February 1862.
Stationed at Camp Mason, March-April 1862.
Marched from Paw Paw Tunnel, [west] Virginia, a distance
of fifty-three miles; thence to Winchester, eighteen miles; thence
to Strasburg and returned, thirty-six miles.
March 23.- Took part in the battle of Winchester, Virginia and
pursued the enemy to Strasburg, Virginia, eighteen miles.
Marched thence to Woodstock, twelve miles; thence to Columbia
Furnace, nine miles. Went on a scout, starting at midnight.
April 16.- Assisted in capturing sixty-one prisoners, fifty-four
horses, some arms, etc. Returned next morning, eighteen miles;
thence to Mount Jackson, eighteen miles, starting after night;
thence to New Market, seven miles; thence to Camp Mason,
twelve miles.
Stationed at Westover Station, May-June 1862.
May 9.- Marched from Camp Cave, Virginia, a distance of
twelve miles; thence to Fredericksburg via Warrenton, 115 miles;
thence to Front Royal via Manassas, eighty-five miles; thence to
Luray, twenty-five miles; thence to Miller's Bridge and back
again to Front Royal, ninety-three miles; thence to Bristoe Sta-
tion, forty-eight miles. Shipped by railroad to Alexandria, there
taking transports for Harrison's Landing, James River via
Fortress Monroe. Total distance marched 378 miles.
Stationed near Rockville, July-August 1862.
Marched from Harrison's Landing to Newport News via
Yorktown, a distance of seventy-five miles; thence transported to
Alexandria and marched to Centreville via Georgetown, a dis-
tance of twenty-five miles; thence to Tenallytown, a distance of
thirty miles. Total distance 130 [miles].
Stationed at camp near Hilisborough, Virginia, September-Octo-
ber 1862.
Marched from Tenallytown to Frederick City, a distance of
forty-two miles.
September 17- [Marched] to Antietam, twenty miles, and par-
ticipated in the bartle; thence to Harper's Ferry, a distance of
twelve miles. Were on a reconnaissance toward Leesburg and
returned, a distance of forty-five miles.
October 31.- Started on a march toward Hilisborough, a dis-
tance of eight miles. Total distance marched 127 miles.
Stationed near Falmouth, Virginia, November-December 1862.
November 1.- Yœfi Hilisborough and marched to Piedmont, Vir-
ginia, a distance of forty miles; thence to Fredericksburg, Vir-
ginia via Warrenton, a distance of forty-five miles.
December 13.- Was engaged in the banle of Fredericksburg.
Stationed near Falmouth, Virginia, January-February 1863.
Stationed at Unked States Ford, March-April 1863.
April 28.- Marched from camp near Falmouth, Virginia to
United States Ford, a distance of eight miles.
Stationed at Falmouth, Virginia, April 10, 1863.
Stationed at Uniontown, Maryland, May-June 1863.
May 3.- Engaged in the battle of Chancellorsville. Marched to
Falmouth, sixteen miles.
June 14.- From Falmouth via Stafford Court-House to Fairfax
Station, forty-two miles; to Gainesville, eighteen miles. Thence
to Edwards Ferry, twenty-five miles; to Frederick City, Mary-
land, thirty miles.
June 29.- Marched thirty miles to Uniontown. Total distance
marched 161 miles.
Stationed at east New York, July-August 1863.
Marched from Uniontown, Maryland to Gettysburg, Penn-
sylvania, a distance of twenty-five miles.
July 3.- Engaged in the Gettysburg battle. Marched from thence
to Harper's Ferry, [west] Virginia via Frederick and
Williamsport, Maryland, a distance of eighty-five miles, from
Harper's Ferry via Warrenton to Elk Run, Virginia, a distance of
ninety miles, from thence by railroad to Alexandria, Virginia and
transported on ship Atlantic to east New York. Total distance
marched 200 miles.
Stationed at Warrenton, Virginia, September-October 1863.
Transported on ship Atlantic from New York to Alexandria,
Virginia. Marched from there to Robertson's River, Virginia via
Culpeper. From thence back to Manassas Junction, Virginia,
from thence to Warrenton, Virginia. Total distance marched 140
miles.
Stationed near Stevensburg, Virginia, November-December 1863.
November 7.- Marched from Warrenton, Virginia via Kelly's
Ford (Rappahannock) to Brandy Station, two miles.
November 26.- [Marched] to Rapidan, ten miles; thence to
Robertson's Tavern, where the company skirmished nearly two
days and nights, eight miles.
November 29-December 1.- To [Verdierville]. seven miles
(another skirmish), where the company lay in battle line Novem-
ber 29, 30 and December 1.
December 2.- Returned to near Stevensburg via Culpeper Ford,
a distance of thirty-three miles. Total distance marched eighty-
seven miles.
Stationed near Stevensburg, Virginia, January-February 1864.
January 6.- Marched from camp near Stevensburg, Virginia to
Morton's Ford, Rapidan River, distance five miles. Skirmished
with the enemy all day and night.
January 7- Returned to camp on the evening of January 7.
Total distance marched ten miles.
Stationed at Stevensburg, Virginia, March-April 1864.
Stationed at Indianapolis, Indiana, June 20, 1864.

Nathan Kimball, called into the service of the United States by the
President at Terre Haute, Indiana (the place of general ren-
dezvous) on June 7, 1861 to serve for the term of three years
from the date of enrollment, unless sooner discharged, from June
7, 1861 (when mustered in) to, 1864....
