The ELS Jr. Rockhounds invite young people (9-16 years of age) and their parents to visit our club. We meet every Monday evening at 7:00PM in our room upstairs (except when the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. does not have classes). We learn about the Earth Sciences: Fossils, Minerals, Gems, and Geology. We go on field trips to collect fossil and mineral specimens. We also take part in the annual Gem - Mineral - Fossil Show at Washington Square Mall.

If you have any questions, please contact:

Indiana Geology Today

Great article (no longer online) in the August 1996 issue (Pages 62-67) of Scientific American entitled: " Sands of the World" - "To see a world in a grain of sand" is more than poetic fancy. Under the microscope, sand reveals itself as a highly varied, astonishingly lovely material that, in its contours and composition, reflects millions of years of geologic history. Go to Scientific American's Homepage for back issues, articles, photos, news - it is a great site of a great magazine.

How to become a ROCKHOUND... First, you must have a basic curiosity, Second, buy yourself a sack of marbles. Then, everytime you pick up a rock, drop a marble. When you have lost all your marbles... you are a ROCKHOUND!!!
