JUNIORS INTERVIEW CLASSMATES
As a result of a class project between the Junior and Senior class the
Juniors have interviewd the Seniors as to what they intend to do after
high school graduation. This of course is to be a serious nature but the
remainder of the interview is mixed with sarcastic expressions. This
article will continue in the paper until an interview of every member has
been published.
_______________
CECIL GALLOWAY
Cecil Galloway was born July 28, 1918, near Mook, Kentucky. Cecil's home
is at SeRee, but during the school year he resides at Kingswood.
He is five feet, eleven inches in stature and weighs one hundred and
fifty pounds. His hair is straight and of the shade, usually termed as
dish-water blond.
Having a desire for roving about Cecil attended school at Shrewberry,
Hayes, Wilson, and Breckinridge County High.
He is a member of the Future Farmers of America Club and considers
Agriculture and English his favorite studies.
"Football is my favorite amusement," he says, "I attend the games of our
school, and on Saturdays listen to the grames being broadcast over the
radio."
His favorite author is Cooper. "Well", he said when asked to tell us
something that he does fairly well, "I think I court Miss Cecil Drane
fairly well, but I don't know maybe you had better ask Miss Drane what
she thinks."
He considers his most interesting experience a trip with the Future
Farmers Club. He did not mention where they went but he said that best
of all he liked the visit to the zoo. "Especially", he said, "I liked to
linger about the monkey's cages."
Cecil would like to go to college at Bowling Green or at Lexington after
this year's doubt of being a Senior is over.

___________
ALFRED MOORE
BIRTH: I was born about 3 miles from McDaniels October 26, 1917.
RESIDENCE: Glen Dean, Kentucky
DESCRIPTION: I am about the average height and weight and have short bow
legs. However, these do not detract much from my good looks. I have
brown hair, brown eyes and several freckles.
SCHOOLS ATTENDED: Beech Grove, Montgomery in Louisville, Glen Dean and
B.C.H.S.
ACTIVITIES: Football.
FAVORITE STUDY: None of them.
FAVORITE AMUSEMENT: Nothing amuses me more than good music or to see
Mrs. Beard listen so intently while I recite aloud some good poem I have
learned in her English Class.
FAVORITE AUTHOR: Of all the authors I have read I choose Zane Gray as my
favorite.
SOMETHING I DO FAIRLY WELL: I think I eat fairly well.
MOST INTERSTING EXPERIENCE: I consider my most interesting experience
the morning the bus got stuck in the creek and I had to carry Roberta
Moorman ashore.
PLANS AFTER LEAVING HIGH SCHOOL: After leaving B.C.H.S. I plan to take
up engineering.
____________
WALTER CARTER
BIRTH: Dyer, Kentucky, April 22, 1919
RESIDENCE: Hardinsburg, KY.
DESCRIPTION: Black straight hair. Dark blue eyes. Reasonably large
ears and a Roman nose. He is 69 inches tall. He wieghs 120 pounds.
ACTIVITY: An earnest student is he. His activity is studying Latin.
FAVORITE STUDY: He is so great a lover of books that it is hard to tell
his favorite. At present it is Bookkeeping.
FAVORITE AMUSEMENT: Wrestling is a great amusement for him but his
favoite is not that. What then could his favorite be but hunting?
FAVORITE AUTHOR: Cooper
SCHOOL ATTENDED: Hardingsburg, Kentucky
SOMETHING I DO FAIRLY WELL: One thing he does fairly well is to get his
English. This of course, is with little effort on his part; but he is
gifted in that subject.
MOST INTERESTING EXPERIENCE: As he thinks back over past years, taking
Latin is his most interesting experience although there have been many
other very interesting ones.
PLANS AFTER LEAVING HIGH SCHOOL: He is not fully decided what he will
do after leaving high school. He thinks perhaps he will get a job, or
he may be a bookkeeper.

Left to right: Walter Carter (holding his pony), Charles Carter, Orie Kelm Jr., Bernard Kelm, James Hessler. On the pony - (right to left): Mildred Bailey, Hazel Bailey, and Nephew (do not have name). My brother (Bernard) and I (Orie Kelm,Jr.) graduated from
Breckinridge County High School in 1942. Photo taken about 1932. Photo submitted by Orie Kelm, Jr.

RICHARD LEE PILE
BIRTH: Harned, Kentucky, January 15, 1917

succession might be termed good-looking. He has slightly blonde hair
which is never out of place, blue eyes and high cheek bones. He is very
neat in dress and always has the appearance of a well groomed person.
ACTIVITIES: Football and Basketball
FAVORITE STUDY: Above the arguments of his English teacher Richard
declares that Math is his favorite study. Mrs. Beard probably believes
English to be his favorite study as he has never failed to take any
course in it less than twice.
SOMETHING I DO FAIRLY WELL: When asked this question Richard said very
sarcastically, "I think I comb my hair fairly well."
MOST INTERSTING EXPERIENCE: He considers his most interesting
experience the Junior and Senior trip to the Mammoth Cave, Tennessee,
Georgia and other places of interest.
PLANS AFTER LEAVING HIGH SCHOOL: After leaving Breckinridge County High

funny now to think of the time when I a green freshman went into a
dignified senior class.

Breckinridge Co. High School 1940 Yearbook
This is what my dad wrote in his senior
yearbook from 1940 --(Linda Burnett Kistner)
MEMOIRS
My memories and love for the institution where this book was edited by the
Senior Class of 1940, cannot be expressed in oral words, nor can it be
expressed in writing. The best four years of my past life were spend in the
Breckinridge County High School, at Hardinsburg, Kentucky.
Just about all I can put down on this sheet of paper is, that no matter
where I shall spend the remainder of my life and no matter what kind of work
I will be doing, my heart and thoughts will turn back to B.C.H.S., the
teachers, and the students.
