MAY 2006:
(May 5 & May 8) Lori and her son were interviewed on NBC WFIE TV concerning autism and the new organization, CARE.
(May 7) The first CARE Support Group meeting was held at Gethsemane Church on Main St. in Evansville on May 7, 2006. The meeting was a great success with 12 people in attendance - we all told our story and got to know each other. We laughed and cried together and discovered that even with the variations in each case, we all understood and were no longer alone!
APRIL 2006:
(Apr 14) Small group of seven meet at Starbucks on West side of Evansville to begin organizing a Support Group for families with autism. During the meeting, a discussion concerning a logo with puzzle pieces and the name for the group could be "Community Autism Resources of Evansville" was suggested by Greg & Lori Culbertson. All liked both ideas. It was decided that the first support group meeting would be Sunday May 7th. at 7PM at Gethsemane Church, 1001 N. Main St., Evansville, Indiana. Lori volunteered to make up fliers to post in libraries, stores and other places to promote the meeting. John West volunteered to develop a web site for CARE. Several volunteers posted fliers in Vanderburgh, Warrick & Posey Counties of Indiana for the May 7th. meeting.
