Check
out the recording BONES by Susan
McKeown and The Chanting House. One song titled "Gorm" is a keen.
It's
a beautiful "blues" in the ancient pre-Christian tradition of a
"caoin".
Gorm means "blue". McKeown gives credit for melody and Irish lyrics to
Peg Flaherty collected by Sidney Robertson Cowell on Inishmore island,
June 1955:
GORM Will you welcome, will
you welcome my
love, my lover When they carry me
home? Will you welcome, will
you welcome my
children, my children When they carry me
home? Will you remember,
will you remember
your child, your daughter When they carry me
home?
