Children’s Memorial Candle Lighting Service

Children’s Angel Monument

Vanderburgh County 4-H Center

 

At 3:00 P.M. on Sunday December 14, 2008, the annual Children’s Memorial Candle Lighting Service will be held at the Children’s Angel Monument at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center.  The Center is located .25 miles west of U.S.41 on Boonville-New Harmony Road.

 

This year we wish to emphasize that the purpose of this memorial service is to provide a time and place for you, and your family and friends, to have the opportunity to remember your loved one(s) in a setting of peace and warmth – away from the hustle and bustle of the traditional family gatherings that take place during the Holiday Season.

 

We want to encourage you to bring those who love you and also miss your child but may shy away from mentioning that child for fear of spoiling the family get together.  This day and time are set aside for remembrance and reflection.  Hopefully this can be a time for you to share your feelings and memories with your whole family in an atmosphere conducive to their sharing their memories with you.

 

You are invited to bring a flower to place at the Angel Monument and, we will provide the candles.  The memorial service will commence with the lighting of candles at the Angel Monument (weather permitting) followed by a bagpipe procession to the dining hall.  There will be a short program of music and readings ending with a second lighting of candles while the bagpipe band plays an appropriate tune.  A reception will follow.  You are also invited to bring a picture or memento to display.
